Lots of people don't really think highly of martial arts.

Which is okay, I guess, to each his own, but what ticks me off is people who think fighting is just two guys trying to hit each other harder.

I wouldnt agree with that. When two fighters collide, the energy and spirit of the two are as one. They flow around each other, moving, opposing, smashing, retreating. In the Western world, the fighter tries to impose his will on the other. In the Eastern, the fighter mirrors and reacts to the will of the other. No matter what it is this collective purpose and will and collective mind creates a harmony between two fighters, one that can be destructive and beautiful, often at the same time.

The improvement in skill of each fighter forces his counterpart to rise above himself and do things he never thought possible. In the eyes of the other each finds himself and tests his mind, body, and spirit in myriads of ways and means. Both develop and understand each other and themself, and turn out better no matter how many bruises and cuts it may take to get there. Fighting should be seen as an art, not a sport.

Nobody said the journey was easy.

OSU!

P.S. my dad said something funny:

punks have hard hair and soft bodies.
true fighters may have soft hair but tough leather hide bodies.

I think, to change it a bit true fighters need soft hearts and hard bodies. :D Sorry maybe that was kinda lame.

Dear Mr. JBJ

Hi. It's exam period and I have been trying to make myself do work that i hate, especially math, which i am really bad in this year.

I dont see the fucking sense of going to school for a whole week, and then spending time in school especially on PE days, and this is all a fucking waste of time for me because i end up

1. really tired when i get home,

2. with more homework to do on subjects that I am prepared to, or already have thrown away my 4.0 or 3.6, (ie lit)

3. sleeping at home once I get home since i can't study tired anyway,

4. Waking up at 8-9pm, finishing the homework, practicing a bit, and sleeping at 2-3am,

5. Doing this same shit EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Oh, yes, and i didn't go to school today because I really felt this way. My mom is pissed though. She might murder me in my sleep. Or cut my allowance which is worse since all this exam time leaves no time for exercise, which is making me really unfit and having no money for a good diet would really help a lot.

I want to ask, am I protected by the Constitution of Singapore, or any part of the law, for trying to take my studies in my own hands for the first time in my life?

I'm hoping for a quick reply as my exams are 5 days away, and I know you are busy with all the cool stuff in heaven (which you are undoubtedly in, being one of the best people on this grotty little island). But take some time off to give me some help.

Warmest Regards,
Me

P.S. The following is an extract from a conversation with my friend Tat Boon.

mudpie mania says:
hey douglas

Lee Tat Boon says:

bio efoo give us some pieces of paper and talk crap as usual

Fuck i think I broke my toe.

Today during PE i think Paul kicked it (not really sure when it got hit) but now theres a really huge bruise and I'm gonna walk weird tomorrow.

No training at the end of this week! Today went jamming, got to know Brandon (Cathigh) and Sarah from IJTP, who can't stop laughing to her self. Crazy.

They are pretty cool people! As well as Aliff who teaches Boon Lay Prisch at the tender age of 19. or 20.

SIA LA ALIFF!!!

Update: gig next month at Boon Lay Pri i think it's a charity gig to raise money for the School Pocket Money Fund details to be finalized later.

IM PLAYING BONGOS (again)! oh god bongos make me the sexiest drummer ever. :DDDD

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion to develop a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300°C.

The Russians used a pencil.

Enjoy.

Today I went to school as usual (most of the time) and I saw Bryani Brian because he's half-Indonesian like Miin which means they both are rich.

We talked about Sprawl, the new dojo we're planning to set up and I think it's gonna rock :) Lots of people are interested now so what we gotta do is just get the mats and we can have FUN! Hope the scheduling works out fine though.

I wanna spar a grappler so bad but its like I gotta get gloves and shit and I dont dare to hit him too hard cos I will feel bad especially since most grapplers are retards at striking. And then just as I start feeling sorry for him I'm gonna get tackled and die on the mat!

And yup the time now is 2:06 AM. Finishing up RE (What a bitch it has been), worrying for English portfolio, refilling my fuckin empty wallet with money that's gonna be emptied by Nigel Chua the Evil Class Money Vacuum Cleaner. How can a Chua take money from another?! That's just wrong.

OK I guess I'll stop rambling about my pointless life now. Managed to get Zhujie very fired up over some girl today but it turns out it was a super false alarm and it is gonna turn out kinda weird. I dont care though it's all none of my business :D I need to play pool a bit, sleep a lot, and talk less in class. oh and I slept throughout math today. I feel bad. Because everytime Mrs. Tan comes to wake me up I wake for about 20 seconds and then go back to sleep. Slept an hour last night. Let's make it two hours tonight! I think eyebags make me look damn sexy, no shit. I look like a dangerous panda. Here comes the chicks!

Cheers to all you late-nighters. The sun's a real bitch, innit.
